From the Facebook event:
Jerry's new play asks the question his critics have been asking for decades... why should anyone go see his show? It's a play that starts out wondering if it should be on stage, wondering how it should get written, even how it should market itself... and yet, in the end, we do have a show!

His new one-act "Secrets and Catheters"—and you've gotta have some kinda guts to put the word Catheter in any title—will take you on a journey through hole-in-the-wall diners across the Midwest, to a game of Jeopardy with some really bizarre contestants and categories, and through the minds and souls of characters who are desperate for that usual trio of love, attention, and acceptance.

Finally, all the characters Jerry's used to populate his plays meet together for one bloody showdown.

Directed by Robert Beck.

$10 gets you in!

October 2010 Events & Recap

Hello all,

It has been about five months since the last time we've sent an email.

Here's a snippet of what we've gotten done (and going to do):

May 2010 - Celebrated Harvey Milk Week:
The LGBT co-hosted a history talk with local LGBT leaders, followed by a reception at the LGBT Center.

June 2010 - Pride Month:
The Center had it's usual booth at this year's St. Louis PrideFest celebration, including a comeback of the "Wheel of Queerdom" at the Pride Education Tent!

July 2010 - Cleanup & Rest:
After the month-long Pride festivities, The Center decided to close it's doors to do some much-need reorganizing in preparation for the upcoming Fall events.

August 2010 - St. Louis Black Pride:
As The Center prepared for the annual St. Louis Black Pride Celebration, we embraced our diversity. Although there was a last-minute location change, we alerted as many members of our LGBTQA community as possible and was able to help continue on the Sunday festivities.

September 2010 - National LGBT Center Awareness:
The Center received acknowledgment, with many other LGBT community centers, for our work and support of the LGBTQA community over the many years.

The Center hosted a meet-and-greet for both existing and potential donors at "Somewhere Over the Rainbow: A Garden Party Festivity" and will soon host an event on Thursday, September 23rd at 6:30PM called "Celebrate Bisexuality Day at The Center" with the Bisexual Alliance of St. Louis (BASL).

October 2010 - GLBT History Month:
The entire month of October will feature many new and exciting historic educational events throughout the country at various LGBTQ establishments. The Center will, as usual, post the historians selected for this year's GLBT History Month celebration which is a Project of the Equality Forum.

Join us on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 6:00PM in Metropolitan Community Church, 1919 S. Broadway, Saint Louis, MO 63104 (which is wheelchair accessible) for An Autumn Harvest: A Fall Musical Celebration of our LGBT Community, a benefit concert extravaganza for The Center, featuring BandTogether, Charis, and The Gateway Men's Chorus. Admission is $20 (Senior/Student w. ID: $10 at the door, only). Tickets are available online at http://www.findmycenter.com and will be available for pickup at the door on the day of show. For more information, call (314)367-1166.

National Coming Out Day is Monday, October 11th! So drop by The Center and see what new activities are abound.

On Friday, October 29th, we will continue with The Center's Community Artist Exhibition by premiering The Art of Marissa Lewis during an Opening Show at 7:00PM.

For more information and upcoming events, see The Center's online calendar at:

Thank you for your patience, love, and constant support. Through my intermittent illness and heavy workload (both at The Center and my full-time job), many people have told me that they appreciate receiving these emails. I will continue to send them as long as I can (only about 1 or 2 a month, though)! I'm still working through the subscriptions (both subscribe and unsubscribe), too.

Oh, and we've added a way to allow MONTHLY donations online! Visit our FUNDING page at http://www.findmycenter.com/funding.html . Click on "Donor Program for Individuals"!

Have a great day and see you soon.
